More than 20 seventh- and eighth-grade students from all five of Westerville City Schools’ middle schools participated in the 2025 Ohio Music Education District 15 Middle School Honor Band on Nov. 8 at Westerville Central High School.

Condensation. Evaporation. Sublimation. 

For several days, the students in Phil Carney’s sixth-grade science classes at Walnut Springs Middle School this week have been diving into vocabulary linked to their lessons on the different states of matter and how they change into solids, liquids and gases.

Evan McIntyre, a music teacher at McVay Elementary; Emily Scott, an instructional aide at Mark Twain Elementary; and Lindsey Lonchyna, a Spanish teacher at Walnut Springs Middle School have been honored as the Westerville Education Foundation’s October Teachers of the Month.

Walnut Springs Middle School sixth-grader Austin Nelson has already built the habits outlined in the state’s new Team Tressel Fitness Challenge.

What started as an impromptu announcement about Taylor Swift’s engagement has become a daily connection to students and staff at Walnut Springs Middle School. 

All across Westerville City Schools, students are stepping into their school media centers to dive into stories, collaborate with each other and receive a variety of lessons that help them navigate a world where information is everywhere.
